The Galapagos Cactus Parakeet (Cactopsittica galapagoensis) is a species of Parrot native to the arid zones of the Galapagos Archipelago. It is 23cm long, with a wingspan of 40cm. They feed entirely on the fruits and young pads of the native cacti, in which they also nest. Females lay three to five eggs in nests made of twigs in between the trunks and pads of a cactus. Males impress females by performing a rather comical courtship dance in which they spread their wings, lower their body and, holding a stick in their beak, bob up and down, pivoting side to side.
The Nectar Finches (Florispiza sp) are a genus of finch native to the tropical forests of the Galapagos Islands. They feed almost entirely on nectar, supplementing their diet with small insects and occasionally tree sap, and their beaks are long, thin and curved downwards to reach into flowers. They are generally 3-4cm in length, with a wingspan of 6-8cm, and are brightly coloured in contrast to other finches, the colours depending on the species. There are three species, the Canopy Nectar Finch (F.altiphilus),which lives in the canopy and has a yellow body and head with a red throat, the Understory Nectar Finch (F.tanycurvorhyncus), which li
